Please don't leave my life forever Honestly I can't believe it (No no no no no no) Hopefully this is temporary Part of me just knows it's over Don't know where it all went wrong This connection disconnected I thought we could keep going on Our affection our affection I was so sure then I was so blind Then I got blindsided Never saw it coming I thought this was it No no no no no no no There was a time when I was so naive I never thought I'd have to be And part of me is still naive I never thought I'd have to see A time when you would go away I never thought it'd be this way And now I'm waiting everyday Thinking maybe you'll come back someday, no Please don't leave my life forever Honestly I can't believe it (No no no no no no) Hopefully this is temporary (And it's not forever) Part of me just knows it's over Don't know where it all went wrong This connection disconnected I thought we could keep going on Our affection our affection I was so sure then I was so blind Then I got blindsided Never saw it coming I thought this was it Never saw it coming I thought this was it Never saw it coming I thought this was it No no no no no no no Split personality It's taken half of me It's getting hard to be With no ability To think decisively Oh what a tragedy Split personality It's taken half of me, no Please don't leave my life forever Honestly I can't believe it (No no no no no no) Hopefully this is temporary (And it's not forever) Part of me just knows it's over (No no no no no no no)

Are you happy to be free now Or are you sad to be alone Are you happy to be free now Or are you sad to be alone I know sometimes that it gets lonely No one when you get home And in the midnight hour You think about how it all went wrong I guess it's all supposedly Shades of dishonesty I guess it's all supposed to be Are you happy to be free now Or are you sad to be alone Are you happy to be free now Or are you sad to be alone I'm supposed to have a family Or at least a piece to call my own I don't even have no pennies I owe on everyone I earn I guess it's all supposedly Gonna come around eventually I guess it's all supposed to be I guess it's all supposedly Gonna come around eventually I guess it's all supposed to be

about

For the last few years Chicago's independent purveyors of "funk for all" have been plugging away at a new album of original rock ’n roll, Local Motive's second full-length titled “Slice of Life.” Memorial Day 2022, two singles from the new album were released, the double A-side, “Naive + Supposed To Be.”

"Naive + Supposed To Be" are the most personal releases yet for bandleader, Mike Vinopal. He believes many will find it resonating in their hearts and souls. "These songs are about the many types of loss we all grapple with as we grow older and the grief of it all." In August, Local Motive will be celebrating 10 years since it first began and the new album will be released.

The cover artwork, also created by Mike Vinopal, features a picture of his mother and her sisters when they were young, with the family dog, Ringo Starr. Vinopal's mom has gone through a miraculous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia over the past two years. This experience, along with the loss of his grandfather this past November, inspired the artwork. Vinopal arranged it so the family snapshot appears as the focal point of a fine art gallery, in an ornate frame, with a cardinal perched on the post below, looking on with love. Vinopal says, "the cardinal is meant to represent all those we love that we've lost and grieve for in our own personal ways."
